What is SNI Product Certification?

The Indonesian National Standard (SNI) is the national standard established by the National Standardization Institute of Indonesia (BSN) to ensure the quality, safety, and performance product, process, or service in regulations of Ministry of Industry number 45 of 2022. 

In compliance with Ministry of Trade regulation number 15 of 2025 regarding standardization in the trade sector, the government strictly prohibits the commercial distribution of non-compliant products. Therefore, obtaining an SNI Certificate of conformity is an absolute legal precondition and a non-negotiable requirement for business to trade legally in the Indonesian market.

SNI Product Certification Process

Based on Minister of Industry Regulation No. 45 of 2022 concerning industrial standardization, the SNI certification process generally consists of the following stages.

1. Application Submission through SIINas
   - Complete the required information through its SIINas account.
   - Select the applicable SNI standard for conformity assessment.
   - Select the Product Certification Body (LSPro) that will conduct the conformity assessment.
   - Upload proof of trademark ownership or trademark registration.
   - Upload other supporting documents required under the applicable mandatory SNI regulation.
   - For overseas manufacturers, provide evidence of an official representative and/or license holder in Indonesia, as well as the required legalization/approval of business licensing documents.
          
2. Application Verification by Director General for Ministry of Industry
   The submitted application and supporting documents are reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
   - The verification is conducted within a maximum of 3 working days.
   - If the submitted documents are incomplete or do not comply with the requirements, the applicant is given 5 working days to provide the required clarification or additional documents.
   - Failure to fulfill the required clarification within the stipulated period may result in the application being considered cancelled.
   
   
3. Conformity Assessment by the LSPro
   Once the application has been verified and declared complete, it is forwarded through SIINas to the required conformity assessment, which may include:
   - Adequacy/document audit
   - Conformity or production process audit
   - Product sampling
   - Product testing by an appropriate testing laboratory. 
   The LSPro subsequently submits the conformity assessment results and the draft SNI certificate to the Director General for Ministry if Industry through SIINas.
   
   
4. Conformity Assessment by the LSPro
   The Director General for Ministry of Industry evaluates the conformity assessment results submitted by the LSPro. 
   - If discrepancies or deficiencies are identified, the LSPro may be required to provide clarification and/or make the necessary corrections.
   - Once the conformity assessment has been completed in accordance with the applicable requirements, the Director General for Ministry of Indusrty provides electronic validation.
   - The electronic validation contains a link to the relevant certificate information available through SIINas.
   
5. Conformity Assessment by the LSPro
   Following Validation:
   - The LSPro affixes the required electronic mark to the SNI Certificate.
   - The LSPro provides the validated SNI Certificate to the applicant.
   - The SNI Certificate is also uploaded to SIINas.
